Whew! The summer is flying by! I accepted a position last week in another school district and boy has that kept me busy! Same grade level, but they do things so differently and there are so many things I want to do differently as well. I am even going with a color scheme/theme this year (Rainbow chevron! YAY! More about that later!).
I am very excited because I finally finished my Interactive Student Math Notebooks for 5th Grade! Boy these took some time! I really wanted them to be practical and engaging, but also teacher friendly. I included a good variety of templates, but these are the EASIEST flippables you will ever use. No stress trying to figure out how to fold it just right or where to cut it. These are perfect if you are just starting interactive notebooks or if you are looking for some hassle free easy to use ones that are going to help your students master the standards.
1. What do the flippables require of the students?
I tried extremely hard to keep these flippables very student driven. The majority of the flippables are designed for notetaking AND student practice. I wanted them to serve two purposes: as an anchor for student learning with the notes and as a fun way to practice the skills (and refer back to as needed). With that being said, the nature of some of the standards made some note taking flippables necessary. And I wanted to include a ton of variety so there are some that are flippables that are just practice problems. Here is an example of a flippable that is more note driven:
2. Is every standard covered?
3. Is there a completed example for each flippable template?
4. What notebook do you recommend?
These next two are examples of flippables that include notetaking and practice problems:
Here is a flippable that is just practice problems that could be completed as a class for the students to refer back to during practice. There is another option for this standard that incorporates note taking.
